Boaters Against Plastic – Charter Edition

Boaters Against Plastic – Charter Edition

The Boat Shop Asia Self-Drive Charters “Rubbish for Fuel Credit” sponsored by Marintech Marketing

Singapore – Boaters Against Plastic is a community initiative to bring awareness and reflection to the global concern of plastic in our seas. As a boater we see examples of this problem on the water every time we head out, as an individual we might not make a difference, but as a community we can encourage behaviour changes in everyone’s life to reduce their need for single-use plastic.

The Boat Shop Asia (TBSA) has launched a fun and creative new initiative for their self drive charter guest in Singapore, all TBSA charter boats will be equipped with tongs, gloves and rubbish bags for charterers to clean up the remote Singapore Islands they visit, TBSA will offer $1 fuel credit for every 1kg collected from the islands and brought back to ONE15 MARINA to be weighed at the fuel dock. Fuel credit will be capped at $20 per charter.

Leading local marine supply store Marintech have also joined the fight against rubbish around Singapore port by offering a monthly giveaway for those who pick up 10kg of rubbish off the island. Each 10kg rubbish bought back and weighed will become token to enter the monthly prize draw to win a Garmin Striker Cast and with a chance to win the grand prize of a Garmin Quatix 5 Marine Smart Watch, the prizes will be drawn on the last day of every month with the grand prizes drawn on August 31st and December 31st 2021.

Clement Chua, TBSA Director on the new initiative “Keeping the seas and beaches clean should be the responsibility of everyone as it not only allows us to enjoy our waters and beaches much more, it also saves marine life and helps them thrive. We want to do our part in keeping our boating environment and playground clean and raising awareness to our bareboat charterer community through this program is a very good start!”

Mark Lau – Marintech Marketing on their support of environmental initiatives “Marintech recognizes and values the need for us to work collaboratively with organizations, in order to improve our world, community and environment. As one of the leading marine suppliers in Singapore, we hope to continue to promote more conservation and sustainable initiatives in our waters.”

Wade Pearce – SG Marine Guide “We hope to continue to organise private boat island clean ups with the help of the community, we are also happy to support any other #boatersagainstplastic initiatives from the industry and community.”
