This session was certainly motivated by our local boating community coming together to clean up Pulau Hantu, Singapore. In total we have picked up over 3,000kg of rubbish off the beautiful tropical island, environmentally it probably made no real impact, but while you are there with your hands dirty, surrounded by dead fish and plastic bottles, you realise you also bought that same plastic bottle last week, you eat fish from that fish farm over there before. So as an individual, what are you doing to minimise/eliminate our own impact on the environment.
Everyday groups of boaters, crew and charterers going down to the docks and out to sea with plastic bags of plastic stuff and plastic cases of plastic bottles. Unfortunately it is tough culturally and for convenience, but hopefully as a community we can discuss openly and consistent ways that we can minimise our impact on the environment.
